Jing'an District is a microcosm of Shanghai. It comprehensively showcases the city's diverse charm and strong comprehensive strength. The Shikumen houses carry the living memories and neighborhood culture of old Shanghai, while the business district around Jing'an Temple exudes fashion vitality and an international cutting-edge atmosphere.

Kangding Road, a landmark representing the charm of the old Jing'an district. "Kangding 1119", a high - end luxury residence from China Merchants Shekou, positioned as "above the Xi series", stands here with a humble yet determined presence. With the sincerity of "archaeological - style" exploration, the project delves deep into the urban cultural context, bringing back the charm of the old Jing'an's sycamore - lined alleys, exuding refinement and elegance in every corner.

Starting from here, we attempt to interpret a proposition: as the city continues to develop forward, what kind of space can simultaneously carry the weight of history and the imagination of the future? And "Kangding 1119" gives its answer with a unique signage system ——

01Outwardly, there is prosperity; inwardly, there is tranquility.

The lush plane trees filter out the hustle and bustle of the metropolis. The modern glass curtain wall of "Kangding 19" reflects the old buildings by the roadside. The new and the old collide here, presenting a unique charm. On the stone wall at the entrance with the theme of "Turning Stones into Silk", the logo is inlaid like a time amber. The light - colored stone wall is warm, elegant and simple. The bronze - colored logo, complemented by hammer marks, reliefs and inlay techniques, endows the entire plane with rich layers: the lines undulate and flow, and the light and shadow alternate between light and dark. The rarity and preciousness of "Kangding 19" are condensed in this small space.

02 Time develops, leaving prominent marks.

Over the past century, a large number of celebrity families have flocked here: Xuyuan Garden, Zhang's Residence Garden, Maigen Road Villa, Zhu Douwen's Mansion, etc. All kinds of legendary Chinese and Western architectures have been built here, becoming the spiritual foundation of "refinement and nobility" on Kangding Road. We hope that this sense of eminence soaked in time can be transformed into perceivable place memories through logo design: it is like the medal patterns of noble families, faintly emerging among the textures of metal and stone, exuding an air of dignity; like the exquisite cufflinks of old-fashioned gentlemen, quietly conveying between the simple shape and exquisite materials: "This is the seat bestowed by time upon the eminent."

03The Light Language of Plain Stones, The Nameplate of the Quiet Realm

The simpler and more plain the design is, the more likely it is to touch people's hearts. In many landscape scenes, we deliberately choose the stone carving intaglio process, taking the natural texture of the stone as the canvas and depicting the logo information only through precise lines, maintaining the simplicity and purity of the material itself. We make light the most wonderful rhetoric in the space: when natural light passes through the leaves and casts mottled and swaying tree shadows on the stone wall, it forms a unique "visual business card" together with the intaglio logo. At this moment, the static carving lines and the dynamic light and shadow intersect, with light and shade generating each other and the virtual and the real reflecting each other. Without any complicated decorations, the spatial temperament of balance, harmony, stability and solemnity is naturally presented.

04The more surging, the more serene.

In the design of indoor signage, we use color and material to create a dramatic collision, generating a strong visual impact. "Venice Brown" and "Andes White" are like the elegant dance of a gentleman and a lady on the ballroom floor of the Paramount. The flowing metallic luster is like the dancing notes on the luxurious stone musical score. This contrast between materials and colors is not only an expression of the tension of visual language but also a vivid interpretation of the coexistence of "nightly revelry" and "elegant life" in the golden age of old Shanghai. It makes the signage a carrier of spatial memory, and in the concise and powerful collision, it evokes people's infinite reveries about that golden age.

Those time ambers embedded in the stone walls, the nameplates of the static realm engraved in the light and shadow, and the memories of the golden age colliding in colors are not only visual symbols, but also the "miniature display cases" of Jing'an's century-old elegance. This is perhaps the answer we gave when designing the logo of this case. The so-called "the way Jing'an should be" has never been a single label, but a coexistence of history and the present, a coexistence of the mundane and the poetic, and a balance between the profound and the light - just like Jing'an itself, always maintaining its most charming appearance in the tempering of time.
